The Board Certified Surgeons at Habersham County Medical Center represent various specialties and provide a spectrum of surgical services. These include general and laparoscopic procedures as well as orthopedic, ENT, facial plastic, dental, urologic, and gynecologic surgeries. In addition to the main operating rooms there are two dedicated endoscopy suites. Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy is well utilized for examinations of the upper and lower intestinal tracts, biliary tract and pancreas (ERCP), and the lungs with its airways.

Orthopedic surgeons use the latest equipment for total joint replacements and are able to handle a wide variety of trauma, as well as video-arthroscopic surgeries. ENT surgeries include standard head and neck procedures and also endoscopic sinus surgeries. The radiology department plays an integral part in many surgeries providing assistance in stereotactic marking of breast abnormalities, digital fluoroscopy for intra-operative imaging, and plain film x-rays for certain fracture fixations.

A complete range of anesthesia services is available including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, monitored sedation for local anesthetics, and epidural techniques for both intra-operative and post-operative care. The anesthesia department has expertise in providing anesthetics for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.

The operating room staff consists of specially trained Registered Nurses, who are Advance Cardiac Life Support Certified, and Surgical Technicians. Their superior training, experience, and advanced skill level have allowed the Surgery Department to perform a diverse array of procedures in a cost-effective and timely manner for an ever-growing population.

The majority of surgeries performed today are done on an outpatient basis, which has created an entire range of conventional, cost-effective health procedures for our patients. Outpatient surgery and the operating room are staffed with highly qualified registered nurses with a high level of expertise, commitment to excellence and empathetic care.
